We are in this together. Use the information on this page to plug in to Contra Costa’s green energy future. Here you will find resources to make the switch from outdated fossil fuels to cleaner electricity in our homes and throughout our communities.
350 Contra Costa Action advocates locally—countywide, and city by city—for building electrification (BE). Indeed, as we lean into 2026, we are stepping up these efforts while keeping in mind that the IRA-funded federal tax credits for electrification work expire at the end of the year. In 2026, federal credits will no longer be available for heat pump installation and building energy efficiency improvements.
The good news: There remain many local, regional and state incentive programs that help make more affordable the replacement of fossil fuel heating systems with energy-efficient electric heating systems (e.g., heat-pump space-conditioning and water-heating systems).
[Keeping this section, but hidden, in case we find relevant workforce info to add here, but must remove all references to IRA]
When we think of transportation, inevitably in car-centric Contra Costa, we think automobiles. Yet, there’s a whole world of alternatives just waiting to be explored.
From biking along scenic paths to taking a leisurely walk to your local grocery store, library, or neighborhood café, active transportation offers fun and eco-friendly ways to get around. Whether you’re picking up fresh ingredients or enjoying a coffee with friends, these short treks not only benefit the environment but also foster a sense of community.
For those longer journeys, public transit provides an excellent option to connect with others while minimizing your carbon footprint. Together, these choices help create a cleaner, more vibrant neighborhood!
If you’re ready to electrify your personal ride, check out the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) website, DriveClean. It features a handy search tool that helps you uncover electric vehicle incentive programs available in your area.
Embracing these clean-energy choices not only enhances our community but also contributes to a healthier future for our children and grandchildren.
