Walnut Creek City Council At-Large Candidate Cindy Darling

Cindy Darling has been a dedicated advocate for environmental justice in Walnut Creek throughout her years of public service. As a longtime resident and city council member, she champions policies that prioritize sustainability, clean energy, and community well-being. Her efforts reflect a deep commitment to making Walnut Creek a greener, more equitable place for all.

With a decade on the planning commission and four years on the city council, Cindy played a key role in passing Walnut Creek’s Climate Action Plan in 2012, establishing a solid foundation for a greener future.

As a board member of MCE (formerly Marin Clean Energy), Cindy led a successful partnership with Richmond residents. Together, they transformed abandoned housing units through energy-efficient retrofits, creating affordable homes. She now advocates for MCE to own more assets instead of relying solely on contracts.

In her role as Mayor Pro Tem, Cindy voted for the 2023 Climate Sustainability Action Plan, which includes 21 actionable strategies, including:

  • Infrastructure Retrofits: Upgrading existing buildings for energy efficiency
  • All-Electric Construction: Mandating new developments to be fully electric
  • Phasing Out Gas Equipment: Reducing gas-powered outdoor tools
  • Reducing Vehicle Miles: Implementing smart planning to lessen travel
  • EV Accessibility: Making electric vehicles more available to the community

Cindy’s record of strong leadership and commitment to environmental justice in Walnut Creek makes her the clear choice for re-election. Join us in supporting Cindy Darling for Walnut Creek City Council and Mayor Pro-Tem!
