Building Electrification

350 Contra Costa Action advocates locally—countywide, and city by city—for building electrification. Indeed, as we lean into 2026, we are stepping up these efforts while keeping in mind that the IRA-funded federal tax credits for electrification work expire at the end of the year. In 2026, federal credits will no longer be available for heat pump installation and building energy efficiency improvements.

The good news: There remain many local, regional and state incentive programs that help make more affordable the replacement of fossil fuel heating systems with energy-efficient electric heating systems (e.g., space-conditioning and water-heating heat pumps).
