Introducing CACTI: Our New Ally Against the Montezuma Carbon Hub Project
Join us for the launch of a new coalition, Communities Against Carbon Transport & Injection (CACTI), to combat the Montezuma pipeline. With members of more than 85 Bay Area, state, and national organizations, we’re working together to champion our communities and safeguard our health from the looming challenge of the Montezuma Carbon Hub Project.
The Pipeline Threat
Montezuma LLC is pushing for a risky and unnecessary 45-mile pipeline that would snake through our neighborhoods and delicate wetlands, endangering both our communities and local wildlife, all while failing to address climate concerns. As the CACTI Coalition reports on the proposed carbon dioxide waste dump near the Montezuma wetlands:
The project, known as the Montezuma Carbon Hub, is a proposed carbon capture and storage facility that would require a massive buildout of pipelines through San Francisco Bay and Suisun Bay. These pipelines and the carbon-capture project itself pose serious risks to wildlife and public health while doing nothing to protect the climate.
This pipeline project would process and transport millions of tons of fossil fuels, posing a significant threat to our communities and the environment. Among those are serious public health risks, particularly for residents in Solano and Contra Costa Counties.
