Frequently Asked Questions
How are writing assignments chosen? Can I propose my own topics?
Absolutely! We welcome your ideas. Some of our best projects have started as volunteer suggestions. Our project list changes often to keep up with Local Policy Team campaigns, urgent calls to action, and upcoming events. You can choose something from the list or pitch a topic of your own—whatever inspires you and fits our mission.
Is there mentorship or feedback for new writers?
Yes! Our team offers guidance, feedback, and resources to help you grow as a writer. You don’t need any previous climate experience.
What is the team dynamic like? Are there in-person meetings?
Our team is friendly and supportive, and most of our work happens online. We meet on Zoom and work together in Google Docs. Since the county is large, we usually don’t meet in person as a team, but we do join in-person gatherings hosted by 350 Contra Costa Action.
I’m interested! What happens after I sign up?
After you fill out the volunteer form, someone from our Communications Team will contact you, usually within a few days.
