Residents in our cities are taking the lead to forge relationships and advocate for positive pollution-fighting policies.

Marti Roach, Founding Member

Across Contra Costa, people are coming together, from city halls to neighborhood events, to help create a more sustainable future. We built this hub to help residents find up-to-date ways to take local climate action. It’s for anyone who wants to see what’s going on, get involved, and support positive change in their city or area.

As Marti Roach, a founding member of 350 Contra Costa Action, says, “Residents in our cities are taking the lead to forge relationships and advocate for positive pollution-fighting policies.”

What You’ll Find in the Portal

What can you find in this portal? You’ll see opportunities at every level: countywide, regional, and city-specific.

Countywide: Start with quick introductions to Contra Costa County and your local supervisors. Find contact info, check meeting schedules, and explore countywide climate campaigns. Dive into articles, resources, and opportunities to make your voice heard at the county government level.

Regional: The three regions—East, Central, and West—share some climate challenges across the county, but each also has its own issues based on local geography. You can check out community-wide priorities, campaigns, and ways to get involved. Each region features a list of its cities with links to their pages. Seven of Contra Costa’s nineteen city pages are live now, with more on the way.

City by City: Zoom in on what’s happening in your city. Each page introduces your city council and their contact information, along with meeting times and links to their agendas. You’ll also find local projects, upcoming events, and new ways to get involved, all focused on your community. In some cities, dedicated residents, called city liaisons, lead local climate action. Right now, eight of these city liaisons help connect people through the portal, share action alerts, and keep city pages updated with news and opportunities. If you want to connect with a city liaison or explore volunteering for that role, email us at info@350ContraCostaAction.org.

Whatever your interests or experience, you’ll find practical ways to help your community become more climate-resilient. Keep looking around. You’ll find lots of new ways to take action.

Ways to Get Involved

Here are just a few ways you can participate in your city’s efforts to build climate resiliency.

  • Attend city council meetings (find meeting times and agenda links on each city page).
  • Organize neighborhood outreach (check out “Ready to Take Action in [Your City]?” on your city page).
  • Advocate for local campaigns, like supporting new bike lanes.
  • Write letters to the editor about key environmental issues in your town.
  • Encourage your city council to update and implement its Climate Action Plan.
  • Sign up to become a city liaison if you’re interested in a hands-on leadership role.

When you attend council meetings, support local campaigns such as bans on drilling or gas-powered leaf blowers, or organize with your neighbors, you help build momentum for change, one connection at a time.
